Beautiful Evenings

Last Saturday was a beautiful evening for an art walk!

Holcomb Street during Art Walk

Maybe it’s just me, but Saturday night had me in my emotions a bit.

Seeing so many in our community come out to enjoy themselves and support local artists and businesses was incredible — and the atmosphere was magical! The Downtown Springdale Alliance (DSA) even sold out of tickets twice and had to add more.

It had me thinking about all the  people who have played a role in getting Springdale here.

The City employees managing contracts for street improvements and construction projects. Residents who show up and give their opinion anytime there’s a public input session. Downtown business owners and employees who open up shop every day, rain or shine.

Prior to Saturday, I think it’s fair to say that Art Walk was on the chopping block for being DSA-backed in 2026. As it goes with outdoor events, the Art Walk was not immune to uncooperative weather in the past, which dampened turnout. This may also have contributed to the sell-out this year, since most people wait to buy non-refundable tickets until the day before (or the day of) the event to see what the weather will do. It’s also fair to say that prior Art Walks were not as well organized or promoted by the DSA as this year’s was.

In fact, many of the business owners I have spoken to say that collaboration and support from the DSA has felt stronger than ever under current leadership.

We’ll have to stay tuned and see what happens in 2026, but I would love to see the Art Walk return. It is a uniquely Springdale event and with the proper support, the Art Walk could potentially become our next promenade-type event like the Street Dinner (another favorite)!

Art Looking for a Home

This barn quilt, Sweet Home, was recently deinstalled from it’s home at 100 W Johnson Ave (behind Onyx) near the Razorback Greenway.

Arts One Presents is repairing a couple pieces that didn’t hold up, and then it’ll be ready for a new home.

If you’ve got a great spot, or know someone who does, get in touch with Anne Jackson at (678) 642-7375.

Downtown Springdale Business Owners Meeting
